About Autistic Phoenix

Hey there, welcome to my blog! I’m so glad you’re here!

My name is Kelly and I’m 36 years old. Right before my 30th birthday I learned that I’m autistic. This was when my search began: who am I; what is autism; what does being autistic mean to me? It wasn’t before long that I discovered that I’m non-binary, or agender. A few years later I realized that I’m also asexual and aromantic. During my search, social media accounts by other autistics and neurodivergent people were very important in finding answers and discovering who I am. Through this blog I wish to help others, just like them, with their search for themselves. By sharing my own experiences as an autistic I hope to offer others some recognition and show them they are not alone.

I am a person with many, many hobbies, most of them creative. For example, I love crocheting, drawing, painting, embroidery, sewing, woodburning, needle felting. Most of them come and go in periods. But I also love to read, I have ever since I was a little kid. Writing is something that I’ve also loved for years. It was during my bachelor’s Language- and Culture Studies and my master’s American Studies that writing increasingly appealed to me. Doing research, followed by writing a research paper became my favorite pastimes during college. After graduation, these disappeared. There also wasn’t any room for them in my mind. The past few years I’ve been missing it more and more, which made me realize that I do not want to become an editor (which I thought for years), but a writer.

I have an amazing sister and the sweetest parents. Additionally, I have an aunt, uncle, and cousin who are always supportive of me. Besides that, I also have 2 guinea pigs: Gomez and Malou, 2 sows we adopted from a shelter in March 2025. This was after my previous guinea pig, Loki, had passed away. Loki was named after the Loki from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, my favorite character. She also had a sister, Princess, who had passed away 1,5 years before, a few days after their 6th birthday. Loki reached the age of 7,5 years and a week.

Now you have a bit of an idea about who I am. If you want to get to know me better, please read my articles. In them, I will primarily discuss my own experiences as an autistic person.
